General Information
In the gray pane, the following information about the meter site is displayed:
-
Meter Site Name – the name of the meter site
-
Meter Site Type – the type of meter site (for example, Production, Consumption, or Deduct)
-
Utility– the utility type measured at the meter site (for example, Electrical, Steam, or Water)
-
Utility System– the utility system to which the meter site is associated
-
Meter Site Description – a description of the meter site
-
Charge Rate– the current charge rate for the meter site; if no rate is entered, the system will look at the rate set at the utility system, then to the utility when calculating billing
-
Calculate Cost Using Rate – indicates whether costs are calculated using the charge rate; if set to Yes, the system calculates cost using the provided charge rate multiplied by consumption; if set to No, the system calculates cost directly from an invoice
The charge rate can be listed on the meter site, the utility system or the utility. The calculation first checks the meter site for a charge rate. If there is none, it checks the utility system, and then the utility.
When Calculate Cost Using Rate is set to Yes, a charge rate greater than $0.00 must be present on the meter site, utility system or utility.
-
Initial Read Date – the date which the first reading was entered for the meter site, used as the date of reference when entering a consumption amount for a meter site that has no meter installed
-
Last Updated By – the user who last updated information about the meter site
-
Comments – any additional comments about the meter site
-
Status – the status of the Meter Site (for example, Active or Inactive)
-
Meter Site On – indicates whether the meter site is on for billing

Install a Meter
If no meter is installed at the meter site, an Install Meter link appears. To install a Meter:
Click Install Meter.
In Meter Name, select the meter you wish to install.
Enter the meter's initial reading in Initial Reading.
Choose the Installation Date, ensuring it's within the current billing period.
Click Install to complete the meter installation process.
Swap a Meter
If a meter or meters are already installed at the meter site, a Swap Meter link appears. To swap a meter:
Click Swap Meter.
Enter the final reading of the current meter in Final Reading.
Input the Final Read Date for the current meter. Set this date to one day before the swap date to ensure accurate consumption calculations. This prevents the potential overlap of consumption days, which could result in a count higher than the actual number of days in the month.
In Meter Name, select the replacement meter. If no replacement is chosen, the system registers the action as an uninstallation. Subsequently, Final Read Date will be used to calculate future daily consumption.
Enter the initial reading of the replacement meter in Initial Reading.
Choose the Installation Date for the replacement meter, which must fall within the current billing period.
To complete the process, click Swap.
